Zombie Survival Blog. Are you ready? This blog is for practical advice on surviving the hoardes. Send your advice to us in the ask. You can find a list of essentials for survival above under 'THE BASICS'. Feel free to submit relevent material. All pages are updated daily so check them for new info regularly.

During an apocalypse, I highly doubt there will be much internet. And afterwards. Books will be the biggest source of knowledge for you (except experience, of course).

"do you think i have a chance of surviving? im a girl, i study on zombies and surviving an apocalypse daily. hell, i even fix up the books i read about them. I'm 13 yet I'm not that athletic, but i practice stabbing things (not alive) with kitchen knives :/ to be honest i think this zombie stuff is making me have anger issues"

Asked by Anonymous

I would suggest seeking anger management help.

Anger can lead to mania and rage that may result in you injuring or killing a human. Humans are on your side. If there is an apocalypse, then the ability to destroy zombies is valuable, but for now, focus on controlling yourself. Exercise is a great way to do this. It releases endorphins (‘happy’ chemicals) that’ll clear your mind. And you’ll become more athletic.

Stabbing things can get you hurt by accident so I would focus on building fitness.

I’m not a qualified psychiatrist so I can’t tell you the answer there, except maybe lay off the obsessing. Too much of anything is bad.

:) Anyone has a chance of surviving. You just have to learn to be in tune with yourself. And luck. Luck helps.

"what if the zombie threat was everywhere? where would you go then...? to the ocean? or can zombies swim.. i'm hearing things that zombies CAN swim.. but others are saying they can't. two questions.. sorry >.<"

Asked by worthlessones

We are planning on the zombie threat being everywhere. Though we expect the threat to be greater in higher population areas. What we recommend is going through the wilderness avoiding any main cities and roads. And some zombies can swim and some can’t. Maybe do some… less than ethical zombie tests to find out when the time comes.

"My friends and I think that we should make a camp if the apocalypse happens. We thought about staying in our highschool, it's on the outside of town surronded by farms and forest. Plus there's a green house for food and lots of hiding places and exits. Would that be a good place to go?"

Asked by Anonymous

The risk with places like that is the density of people there may be. Please refer to this: http://areyoureadyforzombies.tumblr.com/post/32755813157/i-have-a-question-my-high-school-is-pretty-big-would

Personally, I’d go to a farm.

"Do you think young teenagers between the ages of 13 to 15, will have a decent chance of survival during the zombie apocalypse? if not what can they do that might help them along?"

Asked by Anonymous

Honestly? No. Because most teenagers between those ages are lazy and dumb (No offence to anyone). But unless they are athletic or really smart then there’s not much of a chance there. What they’ll want to do is to find someone that is capable to look after-them. But the teens can still be useful by collecting resources or scouting. Just don’t go it alone.

If you are of that age, I’d advise you train up NOW.

Kapas smart corner #2

Okay guys I know this has been long on the making so please suppress your waiting glands as this is another smart corner. Now today we will be looking at the philosophy of an apocalypse. Over time the side-effects of an apocalypse may include:
a) Irritability
b) Rashes
c) Tiredness
d) Depression
e) clichés
f) Some messed up stuff

With these in mind we don’t need people ‘saving-themselves’ or chivalry. Of course honour is still vital. However there is no room for hate on our differences. Everyone gets treated equally. The whole point that I am trying to make is that you can’t go around killing or raping up people because they are the opposite sex, or gay or even a different colour. Everyone is human in the apocalypse…Unless you’re dead.

"I just started following and I already am in fucking love. I'll be here often, js. Anyways, I was looking through the archive and i haven't come across anything about traveling in groups. So do you guys think it would be better to be by yourself or in a group of other survivors?"

Asked by indiernutt

That’s strange because we have had quite a bit on groups. Anyway, we think that small groups of about 4-5 people are ideal. This means that you’re not gathering resources for 20-odd people and with 4-5 people you’re not going around on your own. You want everyone to be safe and sane, however having more people runs the risk of one or more of them being ‘unstable’. It is all about a comfort thing but this is what we recommend.

"My sister and I often have conversations about the possibility of a zombie apocalypse and what we'd do in that situation, and one of the subjects we seem to get stuck on is saving family. I was just wondering what your thoughts are on this? In the event of a zombie apocalypse would you risk your life to save family members even if you're not completely sure they've survived so far?"

Asked by swiftmockingjay

Well I know me and IMJ don’t have the same opinion on this. I will leave my family as soon as alarm bells start ringing. But hopefully I would have taught them some survival tactics so that they can survive on their own. But I feel that they would only slow me down. And I wouldn’t recommend risking your life for anyone in an apocalypse. But again that’s just my opinion.

"What about when it rains? Like you were traveling and you get stuck in the middle of a storm. Any advice?"

Asked by omnommilk

Well obviously the same rules apply when there is a normal storm: Don’t stand under trees and the such. But you probably want to go look for a car or a house. Just a place to keep warm where the zombies and rain can’t get you. If anything you’ll just have to find a cave.

"will i be able to shower in zombieland? and can i take clothes w/ me when i travel? Oh, and were do i find guns, if i don't have one? thank you! amazing blog."

Asked by Anonymous

Depends!

Personally, I wouldn’t cause’ showers can put you in a weak position. It’s not nice, but only wash when completely necessary. Try and do it whilst a companion stands guard. Water supplies will most likely be scarce (I doubt plumbing will still be operational) so try and conserve your supplies. Also, try not to wash in your water supply (i.e upstream) as no one likes human body flavoured water except Zombies.

"i think your advice about antibiotics is a really worthwhile piece of information! i would never have thought of that :)"

That is just what we like to hear!

Now, if anyone has thought of anything that we haven’t; please do share! Even the small things like this could mean the difference between life and death. Help each other out, guys!

Especially when conventional medicine runs out. And food. Don’t want to poison yourself now, do we?
